A quick tip for the Blood Donors !!

Hi all !!

This is Madhav here... am new in the group ! I wish to share some of my thoughts about this great cause of "DONATING BLOOD"

As we all know that donating blood is really a life saving cause and a great help to our human kind but not most of us really take part in it.

There are few reasons that pulls back most of us from donating blood. Though most of us really appreciate the cause but we just do not appreciate enough to be a part of it. Inspired by Mr Ajay Jalan now i wish to be a part of the cause.

So let me tell you what i feel why most people pull themselves back when they see a Blood Donating Unit or Bus that usually stands at Beaches or Parks and Public gathered places. Honestly even i have pulled myself back few times.

Here are few reasons..

1  Pointy needles are always scary to common people.
2  We think by donating blood we will lose lots of our physical wealth.
3  Body may take a long time to get that donated blood back.
4  We may fall sick or take a real long time to recover.
5  Few people are there they just do not like to give anything to others, what to speak of BLOOD

I found few tips that may answer to few of these above reasons from various internet resources and am sharing it here, and i wel come all our respective members to give their Ideas and Opinions about this Topic as well..

Blood Donors are usually rested  at the blood donation site  for at least 15-20 minutes. They are encouraged to lie down as  any complication that may develop from donating blood takes place during the donation or immediately afterwards. The rest period may help to monitor this.

After 15 minutes of rest, Blood donation centers usually  provide light refreshments such as tea, coffee, milk or fruit juice and biscuits  to refresh the donor. The site of needle puncture is covered with a bandage and the donor is recommended to keep it that way for a while.

After the initial rest, the donor may resume daily routine. Rigorous physical work is discouraged for a few hours after donation.
No special diet is recommended for a donor. A balanced, nutritious daily diet will suffice. The donated blood is replaced within the donor’s body within a matter of a day or two.

The frequency by which a donor could donate blood varied from country to country. By general consenses a patient who is donating plasma alone can donate more frequently compared to a donor giving whole blood. This is because RBCs take longer( 36 days) to replace compared to plasma(2-3 days).
So that was a quick fact from my side :)

Cheers !!

Madhav.

** Comments and suggestions are most well come !!
